Challenge

A venerated Los Angeles homeless shelter had a contentious board with minimal leadership and no clear role. The result was a breakdown in board relations while planning a major fundraiser that became public knowledge in business circles. 

Goal

  • Identify a new group of board members that are focused on raising money for this organization

  • Develop a comprehensive communications campaign for internal and external public relations that focuses on the organization “moving forward” 

GV Value Add

  • Cultivated a powerhouse board with representation from key demographics in Los Angeles

  • Leveraged our relationship with the Mayor, as part of the messaging campaign, to highlight the critical work of the organization to a broad group of people

  • Replaced the dated gala with a fun dance party that appealed to all ages and raised more money that in past years
